I looked at those giesemanns and they're 4x54w too. If that's the case, I think I'll go with the 4 bulb powermod. It's still hard to believe though that this could be more output than a 6 bulb tek...

Do empty T5 light banks use electricity?

I was thinking about getting a aquactinics fixture - it has 7 banks but I would only need 5 for now (at least I'll have the others available later..), if I don't put bulbs in two of the spots, does...

Need advice on T5 setup for 48" tank

I'm setting up a coral tank that's a 33L. It's about 48" Wide, 12" Width, and 12" Deep.

I was either thinking about going with 6x39watt 36" T5s (powermodule)
or 4 54watt 48" powermodule fixture....

How do you manage to do the automatic water...

How do you manage to do the automatic water changes? Can you have it take out 40 gal and put in 40 automatically? How do you prevent overflowing etc? You just sparked my interest!
