If they are small, peppermint shrimps can deal with them, it worked for me at least, but for the larger ones I had to kill them by using joes juice and by pulling out any rocks that could be pulled...

Hmm they are not attached tightly but they do pop...
Hmm they are not attached tightly but they do pop fairly easily, not sure if that helps it spread. I usually take out the rock thats infested and scrape them off.
