I've noticed that mine do best when placed flat. That way the larger polyps on top don't shade the ones beneath.

If you're deciding between a 150 and 250 I would go with the 250, because it will give you that extra punch, and it seems like there are more options at the 250 watt level when it comes to kelvin...
