Depends on wether the sides will be up against a...
Depends on wether the sides will be up against a wall. Wherever it goes, get the back drilled (not the bottom) and have the overflow only at the top of the tank, not going all the way down the back....

It depends a lot on the type of skimmer you are...
It depends a lot on the type of skimmer you are using IMO. If you skimmer isn't putting out that many bubbles, dont worry about it. I wouldnt dream of not having baffles with my beckett though.
