If you can't move the mappa to a QT - then try separating/segregating the tank with a plastic lighting grate (home depot, Lowe's etc).
You can also try live gut loaded ghost shrimp.

Rabbit fish are good detrivores. They will help keep algae off rock/glass.
They are usually peaceful and are a great addition.
I have several species and they are relatively hardy.

Any fish that buries in the substrate is food for a epaulette. They naturally will forage in the substrate for food.
I have kept tangs, squirrel fish, hawk fish and rabbit fish with my sharks.
