I should have mentioned that the main tank is a 20 long. Should I just get something like a 10 gallon, fill it with new makeup water and run it on there for some time?

Will change out the pump...

anything under 3 inches in size is going to need...

anything under 3 inches in size is going to need to be fed live phytoplankton in order to gets its nutrition. over 3 inches they rely mostly on photosynthisis. probably best to get one bigger.

open water dives next for cert.

Just completed the NAUI lecture/pool course this weekend. Only need to do the open water dives to complete my cert. Cant wait. :D They are running a trip to the Bahama's and am thinking of going...
