the problem is that they can live anywhere in the water column, they can live in your chato, your skimmer, your GAC reactor, I am sure the Kalk reactor is safe :p you need to treat the whole system....

IMO, I would save up for a Neptune Jr or other controller. the Pinpoint monitor or the Milwaukee monitor are only accurate to +/- .2 pH and only have precision to .1 pH which IMO is not accurate...
