I got better growth under Hamilton 250 W 10K bulbs with Aquametic balasts. However, the color is much better with the Phoenix bulbs. I like the amount of blue. My display does not use actinic.

Mine is half way down in a 24" tank under 14K 250 W. I have frags on the bottom that have pretty good color too. If your parameters are good, maybe you need to feed the tank???

Check out Two Part Solutions for bulk Mg Chloride. It's the active ingredient in most Mg buffers. Check the label, some use Mg Sulphate (Epsom Salt).

I'll have to search on using it as a dip.
