A good way to remove manually if its on your sand bed is to use a fish net. Just run the rim of the net just under the sand and the cyano is caught up in the net.

I just put the original one back in the main...

I just put the original one back in the main tank....I had him in a separate tank...so I think that rules out chemicals. Lights are about 2 months old. I will go ahead and do all water params again...
