I've done it. I used the motor from one of those clip on electric fans. I just tore the thing apart and took the motor out. I then used a dimmer switch for lights to adjust the speed of it. Works...

Sounds great!!! Can't wait to see the pics. Let me ask you how did you swap the 277v ballast for a 120? I have been looking for a transformer but if I can swap that would be better.

I thought about a groove and o-rings myself, but I am afraid that they would wear rather quickly then start to leak. I guess the best thing to do would be to try it, see if it works at all...
