I would IMO stay with the e ballast and go with the xm or reeflux. I like the color of the reeflux 12k but not convinced on the par. I am thinking of switching to the xm 10k.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I think I will try the bucket method as the ro unit is in the laundry room and nowhere near the tank. If it stays at 5g per 2 hours I think I will not worry to much.
