He said that he used an actinic LED to illuminate the corals. That's probably their normal phosphorescence under strong actinic lighting.

Mike, that last shot was taken through the bellows with the Nikon 105VR, manual focused. Unfortunately this lens doesn't have an aperature ring and the cam can't control the aperature. So I'm stuck...

I miss those. AFAIK they aren't on any of the Nikon line through D200. Not sure about the D3/D300 though. There's an aftermarket mod you can make to the cameras. I think it is called a Katz eye.

Those are good. A little too much DOF though, IMO. You want the background to blur a litttle so that your subject stands out more. F12-16, maybe?

D3X will be aimed at Studio & landscape rather than sports and high ISO, so I'd personally rather have the D3. Of course finding them is a virtual impossibility right now anyway.

I've seen good work from the Sigmas and heard great things about the Tameron 90. Personally I use the Nikkor 105 VR (though the VR isn't necessary for macro/tripod mount photography).

Thanks. The magnifacation to the back of the tank would be closer to 1:1 rather than what I have there based on my current equipment list.
