Don't think I've ever seen anything on sexing them. The only ones I know of that have spawned in captivity or the rough skin dwarfs. Search for info on those and you may find something

Nothing like breaded abalone! Don't cook them for more than a minute on either side, and you have to really tenderize the heck out of them prior to breading.
