1. Make sure your lighting is not overdoing it. My MH are on no more than 8 hrs/day.

As Blown 346 says, just go with his suggestion. A fuge is meant to be a refuge for an occaisional fish that needs some R and R; other than that, lots of macro for nutrient control.
