i would think in that case extreme sports would pertain more to skateboarding and motocross and stuff like that, where an injury would be more likely, much the same as contact sports, but i would ask...

use a long tube and hold it high enough above the sand and it wont pull much sand into it at all, and most of what does will fall right back out.
