you could just cut the base with a fresh razor, pull the head out and put a dab of epoxy over the nub that is left, pack it in around it real good, should work fine, and you can sell the caps...

get some sidecutters (also called wire dykes) from a car shop, after you use them, rinse them in clean water really well, and spray lightly with some pam cooking spray, that will help stop them...

i dont think keeping the corals is hard at all, its keeping the tank stable, and keeping yourself from making a really stupid mistake that is hard, dig through the threads here of people crashing...

i have that exact same coral, also called a milli, its def not a monti of any type that ive seen, best guess is its something close to a milli, or maybe a prostrata. but its definatly an acro.
