If by grey you mean sch 80 (dark grey) an industrial hardware shop will have fittings and pipe. One of the Lowe's near my house has limited selection if sch 80 stuff (but others are SOL).

It's never been an issue with them breeding to plague proportions and they do eat more than just algae (bacterial film). And even if even last one of them died all at once there wouldn't be enough...
