mr_alberta, I couldn't speak for the pumps you are refering to, but I can say the downdraft skimmers are superior. The beckett needs good water flow to produce good foam.

No bioballs. The injector is inverted to blast the foam straight down. Hence the name downdraft. Makes for longer contact with surface area. Bioballs just seem superfluous to me.

The Tortugas are a part of the Keys and the National Marine Sanctuary. There are several places in the Sanctuary where there is NO collection of anything called SPAs for Sanctuary Preservation Areas....
