Yep. I don't see how rust from iron or steel is harmful if iron suppliments can be safely added to your tank. Copper and aluminum, of course, is not safe. I won't even use an aluminum reflector above...

Wet or dry, I think it pulls the same amount of impurities out. Wet is just more diluted and dry is more concentrated due to less water.
You could probably do this experiment: Let the the skimmer...

Algae blenny got rid of all algae in my tank. He'd otherwise starve if he wasn't eating spirulina wafers, mysis, brine, and flake. He's getting quite rotund.

You might find it difficult to close the fridge door with an airline tube going to your shrimp. Actually you don't need an airline tube. Put them in an open bowl and they'll last weeks without food...
