Here's where my 270 will go, hopefully this week I can get the tank lifted into place.
There will also be a hinged panel at the top for access.

Obviously Starboard (HDPE) != PVC
HDPE is definitely cheaper than PVC.

Haven't even started talking about the challenges of sealing glass to either material.

At some point I think you'll hit a point of diminishing returns (from a $ perspective).

The PVC you want to use for the bottom and back panel won't be cheap either.

FYI, you can 'relax' Spaflex by putting it in the oven @ 200 or so for 10 minutes. Then it can be laid out / straightened to whatever shape you want.

I've got a 12 gallon nano with 70w MH inside the canopy. That puts it about 4" from the water level.

No issues other than the obvious ones around heat.

Then a bottom layer that is 3 pieces, 40x4 + 40x8 + 40x4.

I've used vinegar on lots of tanks / sumps without issue.
I usually lay the tank on the side / back that I'm cleaning so I can cover it without requiring large amounts of vinegar.

Cut a hole in both walls, then fastened large generic mouse pads over the openings (piece of neoprene rubber would work too). Cut x-s in the rubber for the pipes...
