There's no special type of tang that will always eat hair algae. Best solution is to keep scraping it off , using phosphate removing resin, and good ro/di topoff water.

Ok, will scrap just before. Changing all the water as it's been 3 years and it's nasty. No live animals except a few scarlet hermits. This should make the biggest change vs two 90gallon changes.

Yes it is well water. There was trace sulphur in the water and so the culligan man put a filter on in front of the water softener, carbon I think.
What confuses me is this wasn't a problem before...

The output is way down from city water I think due to the decreased pressure.
