The coralvue ballasts are fine but my personal preference would be to get 2 separate so if in the future one goes bad you only need to replace one. Reeflux 12k's are nice bulbs but not super high...

You can but most PVC ball valves are pretty pitiful and you probably will not be able to make fine adjustments. Just get the gate valve and be done with it.

Tests that say how long it last are meaningless since it depends on the phosphate levels in the aquarium tested. If you put it in a tank with zero phosphate and none is ever added it should last...

That's a reply I got from coralvue back in Oct of '06. No one should be selling...

I did for a while and they were bright white...

I did for a while and they were bright white without even a hint of blue. I'm not one who likes blue tanks but without actinics most colors will look washed out IMO.

It doesn't require an air pump if you connect it to the venturi of your skimmer but I wouls suggest using a small one. I've been using a very small $8 air pump with my Sanders for a couple of years...

What ballasts are you using? I have 250w xm20k SE and 250w reeflux 12k SE both on CV electronic ballasts and the reeflux is no where near as blue as the xm.
