try flushing it for 10 mins or so but that only flushes the RO membrane which I HIGHLY doubt is the problem. Its just the particle filter and carbon block that just needs to be replaced.

Jack it depends on the media your friend is using. Typical is between 6.5 and 6.7. Lower for coarser media, higher for finer media. If you run to low on fine media it will turn to mush.

Its the particle filter or carbon block that is plugged most likely. The pressure gauge is before the RO membrane itself (or on the housing of the RO membrane but still before the membrane itself)...
