Theres no guarantee that it'll eat aiptasia. I would put Copperbands in the Tang category as far as swimming room needs. Unless it is going to be stressed by something in the display, I wouldn't put...

IMO using the return as the major source of flow in the tank is a bad idea. Running 600 gph through the stock return on a 90 is plenty. The rest of the flow should be made up with power heads or a...

The cool thing about Kenya's is that they are self fragging. The bad thing is that they aren't exactly a high $$ coral. I give mine to my LFS who gives them to newer reefers looking for their first...

Sounds like a good idea, but it wont happen. The small critters in a 'fuge wont keep up with a properly functioning overflow. If it were perfect its the only filtration we'd use.

My 180 is on carpet...on a plywood sub-floor. This is much "squishier" than a tank on laminate/concrete. I have it braced in the basement, but I still wish my tank was in your situation!

Calcium based sand does not see PH low enough to buffer anything in a tank. If it did, it would dissolve and we would have to replenish it...like a calcium reactor.

The biggest problem I've found from running drain to 'fuge is the large amount of detritus that builds up there from the overflow. A refugium will not have the ability to deal to deal with it and it...

The 6045 is probably more than enough flow for a 55 with mostly soft/lps corals. It is also not recommended to run on a wavemaker...you will void the warantee.

seeding the sand is ok, but digging up the whole bed on an old tank may cause problems. You might release a lot of trapped organics which could cause a large cycle.
