I've successfully covered my tank with plastic...

I've successfully covered my tank with plastic when the floors in my classroom were being stripped and waxed. I used plastic wrap and secured it with elastic or tape.

Also, females tend to be more drab in color (olive) whereas mature males are usually brighter green (emerald), but that's not always reliable.

Your best bet is to get your peacock to come up out...

I agree with Dan. He's probably not hungry enough to care about the frozen foods. If you let him go for a few days without, I bet he'll take frozen.
