the biggest thing with young triggers is to constantly feed them. many that small dont get the food they need and starve to death. 3 feedings a day isnt quite enough. give em about 6 or 7.

I think its more of a pre-emptive. I had some large clarkii clowns that were right around 6" and the pair killed a small chainlink moray in under a week. I could never get the eel out to save it.

they are highly territorial and not overly bright. get another fish that is around 3/4" and you should be ok. have a QT tank handy in case the new comer is also not wanted....

I think he sells them around 6-8 mo. if you are wanting a pair then younger is better. If you just want a single fish then age wont matter.
