I guess there's a possibility its a toadstool. Got a pic with the polyps closed up? I'm with szwab, thinking more capnella, or some other type of leather.

The shell description is what led me to the stomatella. ;)

Here's a pic. Doesn't show the irridescence in the shell, but does yours look like this?...
