You could also do a chlorine test on your top off...
You could also do a chlorine test on your top off reservoir before it gets to your main tank.

Some people (myself included) like to start their lights up around 2 pm so they'll be on until 10 pm more or less... that way you actually get to see and enjoy your tank when you get home from work.
