i would check phosphates......if you are using any tap water at all (even with the prime) you will probably have some phosphates. generall rule of thumb....NO TAP just ro/di. the nitrates are...

i agree, it is probably cyano-bacteria. high phosphates cause this and the biggest culprit is tap water!!!!!! if you do not use tap water, syphon out as much as you can and do a water change.

i have had that problem before.....it comes from high phosphates.....are you putting any tap water in the tank? make sure your ro water is actually ro!!! some stores dont change their filters.
