that's what they do...urchins are very notorious for eating coralline algae. mine does, and i don't mind. they'll also eat other algae while grazing on the rocks.

the fly screen is for light acclimation. if it came from a tank with a lower level of lighting and you put it in a tank with higher levels of lighting it might stress it out.
