Well thanks for the advice everyone! I think I will try and run some phos ban in one of the chambers. Maybe I should just give up the ship and ditch the sand bed. Seems in this case it is a failed...

Is there a reliable silicate test kit?

I have had a tank now for 2 years, but lately I have been getting diatoms. I am not sure why as I use a DI on my R/O which is fairly fresh. I do get a reading of 5 TDS using the HM com-100 TDS meter....
