I can tell you from my experience with this coral is if you have any nitrates it will not get the nice blue color and will not grow fast.

I got a 250watt phoenix with a HQI ballast on my frag tank and I think the color and growth is great. It's a nice blue tint but not too blue IMO. You don't even need any actinic lighting.

I just checked, the m58 is a probe-start ballast...

I just checked, the m58 is a probe-start ballast and the AC is a pulse start bulb so the reliability and the longevity will be sacrificed.

I get 9 months out of mine on electronics at 6 hours a day. I believe the phoenix last longer when they are on HQI ballasts, the AC might just last longer on a m80 ballast too because they are HQI...
