I never had any problems with my monti's getting...

I never had any problems with my monti's getting nipped, however any acros with long polyps like Mille's would get chomped instantly.

Just my experience with a very similar setup (exact same lighting)... I used phoenix 14k for around 6 months and then switched to the BLV 20k. Corals lightened up and some even became a light brown...

Sounds like a good plan to me.... and no you can't really over-compensate. It's always nice to go larger like you are doing though, in case you ever decide to get an even larger pump.

Yeah, I would think cavitation would be a problem. Anytime you have a decent pressure drop, cavitation will occur... just hopefully not enough to send micro-bubbles everywhere or even worse destroy...

I dont know how phosphate can kill a fish, but maybe extremely elevated levels it is possible? Yes, a UV, provided it has a large enough dose (C x t) can convert organic phosphate to orthophosphate....
