Re: Beating back the Green Monster

Rokmuncher, I've had similar bouts with green hair algae and I'd often physically remove as much as I could. RO water was one of my problems too (old filters). And I think excess nutrients was the...

Good for you Flybynight. Not pitching anyone, but if you're unable to get clams locally, check out Reef Science. I ordered both my Crocea and Derasa from Chad. Next to getting healthy creatures,...

Thanks usmc121581. I "think" the last one is a Favia (fay'-vee-ah). It's about 5 inches wide. My brittle star makes his home behind the Favia, so you kind of get an idea of his size.

As soon as I saw the word "AquaCon" my immediate reaction was "Oh no, they're still at it!" My experience with them was terrible. It took weeks to receive my order (so long in fact, I almost forgot...

AquaMedic Magnetic Ballast Won't Fire CoralVue Bulb

I have an AquaMedic 250w Ocean Light with an external magnetic ballast. It's been in operation for a year and half so I decided it was overdue for a bulb change. I chose a CoralVue 250w 10K DE...

Rich, if you were to buy the gallon units of B-Ionic, you'd notice they are concentrated and have to be diluted with RO water. It doesn't affect the shelf life of the product at all. I like...

Thanks guys. The Toadstool is larger than a soccer ball. Sean here's a pic of my sump. But instead of reposting, you can look in my gallery to see my 90 from an empty tank to now; RO, topoff,...

A few pics from my 90

This tank is nearing a year old. Just wanted to share a few pics. My job takes me away from home at least 2 weeks out of every month. As a result I've been battling hair algae lately. Otherwise...

Criminal, what stuff was banned, why, and on what forum? I've used the B-Ionic products. IMO they're good, but expensive over time. I now use Randy's DIY 2 part with good results. Thanks.

I've yet to find a hard and fast rule for how much GAC per gallon. Some folks don't use it at all. I run 1/4 cup in my 29g, 1/2 cup in my 54g, and 1 cup in my 90g. It's pretty cheap, so I...

I agree. Due to the depth of the tank, you'll have to pay attention to SPS placement with 150w. I use 2x250w on my 90 and get pretty penetration even with 14k bulbs.

I've used an MCE600 and Aqua-C w/Mag3 on my 54g. Deltec's are solid performers, but pricey.

With the Aqua-C, I didn't like the huge Mag pump dangling in my tank. IMO it's unsightly and loud. ...

I had a similar issue with my RBTA. Fortunately I was able to simply rotate the rock it had settled on for better viewing. Flow and lighting were just about the same, so the RBTA never moved at all.

I'd be patient and keep an eye on them. If there are no signs of illness, the lack of appetite could simply be an adjustment to new environment and foods. Pellet food comes both large and small. ...
