I had hair algae over my entire tank a few months ago....i fixed the problem in my tank by adding some caulerpa to my fuge , i also skimmed more frequently and i added alott of carbon for about 2...

how crushed is it? my only problem with using crushed coral is that the copepods and the sand critters didnt like it too much , so i eventually got more copepods on the glass than in the substrate

using that big of a chiller in a small setup might be overkill, it might be ok for your tank but you might shorten the life of the chiller.. The compressor would be coming on and off more frequently...
