they are harmless. I use to catch them on the beach all the time. Your mantis will kill it as soon as he find its. They are filter feeders but that a good idea for a sand sifter!

I'll describe it to you. the bottom pane is 1/2" think and is 25"x21" then a piece of 3/8" glass is siliconed on top of that piece that is 23-7/8"x19-7/8". Then the sides are put on top of the 1/2"...
