The sand you have will "seed" as long as it has...
The sand you have will "seed" as long as it has either cycled or there is some live sand present in your tank. I wouldn't suggest replacing the sand as this will cause even more stress to your fish....

After it sets, wipe it with a damp rag and dry it everyday until the smell goes away. It's always safe to assume that if you can smell it, you should probably wait.
