Clean glass and done up just firmly, not over done, is all you need to do.

Do not over tighten them as they can leak or crack your tank

I have since changed the pump to a pondmate PM2400 L/H. Then I hooked up an air pump to the venturi and mate what a differance. I now have to clean out the skim mate every 2 days...
