When you got your first skimmate, did you leave the wedge pipe wide open? The first night I did as well ( leaving it wide open ) but now I struggle to get it create any to go into the cup without it...

This is where I have mine as well. It produces the most bubble there. I had it so that the angled cut was directly under the middle of the meshwheel and it didn't produce as much bubbles.

Do you find that the skimmer is very sensitive though ( i know it's new and still breaking in )? Seems if I tough the water, or feed the tank, the skimmer stops working for a good couple hours.

I have the MSX 200 and it did come with a drain plug for the collection cup. I was a piece of fairly ridged tubing that is sealed on one side.

I agree on the kinking but it seems to come out of it once it warms up and has been unrolled for a while. Any suggestions on where to get replacement tubing? I don't have any good stores for stuff...
