What is the difference between T5's T8's and T12's

I am trying to set up a tank with either T8's or T12's. I dont know which bulb has a greater effect on growing coral. I plan to use it on a prop tank with four bulbs, and I plan to buy the fixture...

Difference between T5's and T8's?

Will someone please explain the difference between T5's and T8's? Which has a better growth rate in corals?

The reason why I'm asking is because I can buy a cheap fixture that holds 48inch bulbs...

I've cut a few Yumas and a few Florida Ricorida's and they tend to be pretty easy to do, all you do is cut them in half. I have done cutting with both razors and siccors and I can't tell a difference...
