For chat, I am much more inclined to use something that allows a standard IRC client, since I have IRC windows open all day anyway. Of course there are web interfaces to IRC as well.

FWIW, the RSM is actually thicker glass than most of the other tanks this size. I am not so worried about using a mag float with the tank, just keep the sand out.
