Personally, I wouldn't. Especially since you can get a brand new 10g pretty cheap and completely avoid the question altogether. It's *probably* safe, but why chance it?

I made my own with plastic coated rare earth...

I made my own with plastic coated rare earth magnets and love them. Much better than suction cups and I like how it looks like a floating shelf.
