I'd say get it fixed and ditch the timer. The new Wireless Wave Driver is the way to go. They offer all the control of a timer, and more more more... :)

If you keep it at a lower setting in your 60 you'll probably never even hear it. When I run mine at 100%, yeah, I can hear them. But I usually run them about 50% or so ( varies on reef crest mode )...
