If its brown, looks kind of gooey and gets stringy with little bubbles, its dino. Plus dino kills snails. If your snails have been dying since you noticed it, it most likely is dino.

Sounds like dinoflagellates. This kills snails. Like Agu said, blast it to get it into circulatioion and increase skimming. I'd also run carbon. Plus reducing the amount of time your lights are on...

I think it's freshwater daphnia about 1/16 inch long. I use it on occasion. I rinse a small amount in water before adding it to the tank. 1/8 tsp is a good start. My fish like it.

It shouldn't be a problem. It's the green brittle serpent stars that are known to kill fish.
Enjoy it now because after lights out, you'll probably never see it again.

From what I understand, coralline does not grow...
From what I understand, coralline does not grow well under metal halide lighting. I don't think it is the placement of the lights. I have my light fixture sitting right on the tank with no problems.
