I replaced my Mag pump three times so far in a year. IMO the Eheim pump is cheaper in the long run.

I like using vinyl tubing on smaller tank. It absorbs vibration a lot better than hard pvc.

Don't worry. Your oversize skimmer will keep it in check. I'm running a low nutrient tank, and I have to feed more to keep the color from fading.

Skimmer. Don't even think about running an SPS tank with only a refugium. You can have both if you get an external protein skimmer.

The difference is huge between the Mag7 (700 gph) and an Eheim 1262 (900 gph). It'll give your skimmer the needed pressure.
