I don't want to keep it down as such... I'd love to have in about 8.35 maybe dipping to 8.2 in the dark. I just didn't want it over 8.5 as it might start to freak out the tank's inhabitants....

... without damaging it? This one is stuck in a hole, in a piece of rock with the crown sticking out. It's quite small, about 1.5" in diameter.
