If you know of an honest LFS, they can probably get you a more durable stand and for a decent price. But if you are just doing a small tank then i guess particle board can be trusted, i've just heard...

Yea, its gonna take at least a week for any skimmer to get dialed in correctly. I think the best cure is patience right now.
