Then again, in modern English, as in encyclopaedia, paediatric or caesar (seezar), the ae is often just commonly pronounced as if it was just a standard double ee instead.

When I did latin at school, I was taught 'ae' is pronounced like 'eye'. Hence the modern German title of 'Kaiser' is the actual pronunciation of its origin, 'Caesar'.

So.... ch-eye-toe.
