I've tried so many bulbs 14K and 10K and 20K and finally found the Aquaconnect 14K 250 watt SE, its perfect. High PAR for coral growth, nice and blue for looks and LPS.

I keep my ballast for a 250 watt SE in the stand and run the plug up to the fixture. It doesn't really get that hot, I use a Galaxy e-ballast from Sunlight Supply.

Guys with your type of setup usually have the T-5's come on for 2 hours, then 8 hours of MH, then 2 more hours of the T-5's covering 12 hours but just 8 with MH lighting, saves heat and electricity....

Check out the Aqua Connect 14K bulbs, I run the 250 watt SE version, it rocks. Intense white with a nice hint of blue. According to Sanjay's site it has a high PAR (83) for a 14K or above wavelength.
