I did not need to treat the sohal. He was healthy as a horse. He is 5" long and I expect to remove him when he his 6"

Fish cant handle more than .01 - .02 increase in salinity per day. If you increase it too fast they will have trouble breathing.
You can decrease much more rapidly.
